Mission/Purpose
Winnetka District 36 school PTOs are each separate organizations that fall under one “Central PTO” umbrella.
The purpose of the Central PTO is to serve as a common meeting ground for District 36 School PTOs and the Superintendent to share ideas, foster communication, create consistency, and share resources. It serves as a forum for information exchange between parents, the Superintendent and schools.
Collectively, all District 36 PTOs support, enhance, and encourage the educational and social environment of the Winnetka Public Schools. The goals are to complement the school curriculum with additional opportunities for parents, teachers, and students to learn, socialize, communicate, and grow.
The PTOs establish and maintain programs and committees and purchase items for the schools to fulfill the above stated purpose ad engage in fundraising activities to support such efforts.

Budget
Each of the PTOs operate on an annual budget, which is approved by their school’s executive boards. The money used to sponsor PTO activities is raised through annual dues and fundraising events. Each school’s PTO contributes to the Central PTO. These funds are used for PTO administrative expenses, auditing expenses, website design and maintenance, donations to community programs and organizations that enrich our PTO mission. The PTO also initiates programs that increase educational opportunities for the students. Fundraising monies raised by the PTOs are used towards general PTO programming, teachers’ and principals’ wish lists, and various projects that enhance the schools. Please click on the individual school to learn more about their programs and fundraising activities. The PTO’s success is evident in the students’ appreciation for their school, their teachers, and the opportunities these give to them.
